Day Hike in Butano State Park (Pescadero, CA)
This past Sunday, Ivano and I intentionally blocked out the day to have nothing scheduled on our calendar so we can do whatever we want, whenever we want! We got to sleep in, cooked and enjoyed a nice Sunday brunch at home, found a perfect dog-friendly half-day hike and off we went!
The trail we picked is called βFire Road Trailβ in Butano State Park, Pescadero. The route over to Pescadero is always scenic, either by the coast or through the mountains. Upon arrival at the park, we got a map and paid $10 for parking.
The trail itself is shaded and lush, filled with the crisp and fresh scent of the redwoods. Otto and I both thrive when we hike in the shade, as opposed to under the direct sun, so it was perfect! The hike was mostly incline on the way in and downhill on the way out, but nothing steep. We hiked in at a pretty fast pace since we let Otto dictate our speed, but with frequent stops to photograph, we also got ample little breaks here and there.
We spent around 2.5 hours on the trail, it was a wonderful LISS workout for anyone interested in fitness! On the way back to the Peninsula, we stopped by Arcangeli Grocery Co. / Norms Market in downtown Pescadero and were greeted by their fresh-out-of-oven garlic artichoke bread! What a delightful treat for our ride home!
